Coinbase President Leaves Company

Shockingly, it was announced today that the chief operating officer and president of Coinbase are leaving the company. This is the latest departure of a senior executive at this San Francisco-established cryptocurrency exchange.

AsiffHirji started his employment with Coinbase in December 2017. This was at the peak of the firm’s operations, with Coinbase receiving significant trading volumes. MrHirji played a substantial role in this company’s growth. He pushed the firm towards international status and created products that could appeal to institutional firms.

The Vice President at Coinbase, Emilie Cho, has been named the new president and chief operating officer of the company. She stated, “His experience and mentorship helped guide Coinbase through an important chapter in its history. He joined at a critical time when both the company and crypto space were going through rapid growth, bringing his extensive experience to bear when it was most necessary.”

Cho was one of the first employees hired on by Asiff. She has been working closely with her mentor, creating partnerships with industry insiders and relationships with fellow executives. She has learned about acquisitions, round funding, and how to ultimately run a cryptocurrency exchange. Miss Cho started her career at Yahoo back in Silicon Valley. Eventually, she moved on to Flicker and then worked for LinkedIn. Finally, she left the social space to the crypto space.

Asiff leaving the company comes as a surprise to everyone. Since 2018, the company has lost its CTO and three other individuals in management roles. The rate of turnovers for executives has caused significant concern between company employees. However, Coinbase continually argues that their business is still growing and that their platform accounts for 50% of trading volumes in the United States.
